150grBT-FMJ .308 loads
« on: December 04, 2005, 03:57:12 PM »
I hate to be a nuisance but does anyone have a load(s) for a .308 with 150gr Boat tailed FMJ bullets? I bought a bag of 200 Hornady bullets and basically have no data (aside from Nosler manual) for an accurate starting point.

varget will also do good with the bullet weight. i just don't like steeling powder from my 243 to shoot in my 308.

good luck let me know what results you get.

150 gr. with Varget
« Reply #5 on: December 06, 2005, 02:33:40 AM »
Hello from Georgia,
The Lee manual lists 150 gr. bullets to be loaded with 44 gr. to start and 47 gr. as a max load. I have tried several powders in my Ultra Hunter .308 and have found that Varget performs better than IMR 3031, IMR 4895 and H335. Those 150 gr. bullets do perform well and actually make very effective target loads as well as Coyote injections. Good Luck.

i would say the Hornady book a better choice just cause they made the bullets.
