Compensator for Commander
« on: December 09, 2005, 12:48:16 PM »
I have a Commander size Kimber 1911.
I am looking for a "drop-in" (I realize they aren't) 45 barrel and single port compensator set up. Any suggestions? I see a couple advertised for the full size 1911 but haven't found one yet for the Commander

Just for information and alternatives, I had Mag-na-port port an Officers and a Commander for me.  I was amazed with how soft and shootable it made both guns!  Sight recovery was much, much faster.  I did have to get taller rear sight for both as they were shooting about 5" low at 15 yds after the porting.  I think I put the commander sight on the Officers and got a Gov't rear sight for the Commander.  I mention this as it may be more difficult to get a ported barrel that works with the cone barrel system of the Commander size Kimber.  Good luck.  44 Man

Why don't you contact Kimber and see what they recommend.  44 Man makes a very good point - that Kimber has a cone shaped barrel and that may make it more difficult to compensate.  I'll just betcha Kimber would have some good recommendations.  HTH.  Mikey.
