New varmint rifle
« on: December 15, 2005, 05:58:12 PM »
I got my christmas bonus check today, which was a nice suprise :). I went to my favorite store after work and saw they had taken in on trade a NEF superlight handi rifle chambered in .243 winchester. It had a Simmons 3x9x40 hunter pro scope mounted on it, and was in awesome shape. I asked them if they knew the history of the gun. Max the sales guy told me that some guy bought if for his kid for deer hunting this last fall. His son was hoping for a bolt action rifle so he traded it in on a savage rifle. Gun has only had 3 rounds through it. I bought it for $200. Havn't shot it yet, but I'll send a couple rounds down range tomorrow afternoon after work.

Sounds like a good find, hope you're as excited about it after you shoot it, the superlights don't have the best reputation for being great shooters, but there are those that do shoot good, just takes some patience.

I shot two round through it after I got off work. It was dark out so I don't know how good my aim was lol. Gun shoots awesome, no problems. think this going to be very useful next summer when I'm hunting varmints. Saw Winchester sells ammo with a 55 grain ballistic tip bullet. At 4000+ fps it sounds like one sizzling round. Any feed back on this ammo? Right now I just have a box of fusion 95 grain deer ammo, which shoot awesome too, but may be a little big for smaller game.
