I just wanted to say Hi to all members, and I am looking forward to sharing feedback and experiences with everyone.

I recently bought a T/C Omega Realtree Camo and SST Barrel...I am shooting 100 grains...2 pellets of 777 with a T/C Mag Sabot XTP 240 gr. and Remington Primer. I am having great grouping. I am really enjoying my Omega! I am looking forward to taking my first Whitetail with my Omega!!!

I recently read where some members use a windex and vinegar mixture for cleaning...can anyone share the mixture and process? Equal parts? And Soaking? and if the process is different from a regular cleaning.

Also, is it ok to leave your triple 777 charge and sabot/bullet in the chamber overnight ? Or for a couple days untill you hunt again?

And if it is ok...would the same hold true for all black powders? Is is possible to have the barrel condense (causing moist pellets) if the Inline is brought inside the house?

When I used Windex and Vinegar mix, I bought it off the store-shelf already mixed in a spray bottle. Just spray it on a couple of soft cotton patches and run them thru the barrel, then a dry patch, then an oily one. I now use another brand of cleaner.

Leaving guns loaded over-night is a personal choice. My experience, though limited, leads me to think it's not for me. I use pellets in my ML and it's real simple to drop-out the plug and push it all out.

.....on the Windex/Vinegar mixture. I presume they're referring to the Windex brand mixture not seperate ingrediants. I was told, and I've used it effectively, just pour some of the blue, car window washer solvent into a spray bottle and go to town. It is really the alcohol that's doing the cleaning and the vinegar has acetic acid just diluted down. I really don't see the need to use vinegar. Might even cause some etching of the steel if allowed to set too long. This is also true for the Windex with ammonia as well!

First of all, Welcome to the sight. As I'm sure you have figured from your lurking there is a wealth of information and some great people here. I can't help you with the Windex, I've never used it. As far as the other questions, I always leave my gun outside once I've taken it out to hunt. The gun will sweat if you bring it in.The moisture can make the bore rust and possibly ruin the powder charge. I've never had it happen but chance favors the prepared.

Welcome to the site Deer Dave.

I use the Windex with Vinegar, I bought it off the store-shelf already mixed in a spray bottle like Kodiak. It is a clear bottle with a clear liquid. Don't use regular Windex, the blue kind. It has ammonia in it and is corrosive.

savageT, I have been using Windex with Vinegar for a lot of years and never had any etching of the steel. I clean and lube my guns after shooting. I use it on my Shiloh Sharps that I paid well over $2400 and if for one minute I thought it was harmful I would not of used it.

never used the cleaner they use....i live in ok. this muzzy season was 78 deg...no rain in three weeks,...i only go 2 days between loadings unless it rains or is moist then everyday...powder and bullets are cheep compared to missing a buck due to wet powder...as they used to say <keep your powder dry> i say it often......jb
