What bullet powder/powder combinations work best for accuracy at 100 and 200 yards for the K31? I am a fan of RL-15 and Rem 150 corlokt for my 308 Win. Any other good options?

Thanks

I am in the proccess of working up the loads for my K31.  Here are the two best loads so far.  This group was shot using Hornady 165 gr. Interbond 30 cal (308) bullets and 43.9 gr. of IMR 4064.  The target says 60 yards but was actually closer to 70 yards.

The second target was shot at around 70 yards also using the 165 gr. Hornady Interbond 30 cal (308) bullets and 44 gr. of H4350.

I think its a matter of figuring out what powder burn rate is good for the swiss rifle twist then go from there.  I already have IMR4350,  IMR4895, IMR4831 and IMR 4064 in stock to figure out what works best. I hope to turn my swiss into a 1 holer with iron sites. If she shoots under 1" with no scope on a good day i'd be happy.

So far for me of the powders I have H 4350 and IMR 4064 has shown the best results.  I read a reloading data sheet for the K31 and it showed RL 15 to be very good although so far it hasn't been good for me.  I think bullet selection is very important.

Hi, guys, didn't mean to be cryptic but I have a large stock of a Canadian military surplus powder called CMR 100. I got it from www.gibrass.com but I think he's out at the moment. Anyway, it's just a smidgen faster than H4895. I used the equivalent of a mild charge of 4895 and shot a first group of .860, five shots, 100 yards, issue sights. One of those where I asked a friend whether I should fire the fifth one. Obviously a fluke but I've shot several more groups right at an inch and don't believe I've had one go over 1 1/2". I haven't put it on paper at 200 but it seems to hold together well for silhouette plinking/practice at the 300 meter pig. So, I don't guess my data is any use to anybody but the rifle obviously likes the reasonably short, high quality bullet. I bet 4064, 4895, Varget, RL15 and any other powder suitable for target loads in the .308 would work as well. Sorry I can't be more helpful but I think the bullet is the key.

That Sierra Palma sure is pricey, over $20/100.  I'm too cheap.  I've been trying surplus 147g FMJ ($6/100) with surplus wc846.  So far accuracy has not been good in the K-31, 3" at 50 yards.  Much worse in the 30-06.

I had good luck with speer 165g btsp and BL-C2.
