Gentlemen,

As many of you know Gen. G. S. Patton Jr. Commanding  General, Third United States Army. Stated the following to Maj. Gen. L. H. Campbell, Jr. Chief of Ordnance.

"In my opinion, the M-1 Rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised."

However, General Patton when visiting Springfield Armory on a short trip home wrote the following in praise of the M1 Rifle. So you now know that General Patton had a Second note about the M1 Garand Rifle.

:D If I had to pick one single weapon as the best of WW II, it would be the Garand.  It was far superior to the standard issue weapon of the opossing forces.  I think this, in part, was the reason for our victory.

Resolve was the reason we won that war.  That's what's been lacking ever sense......Hard to beat an enemy that won't quit, and is will to die.......What really gets me going today is when one of our political figures stands up and makes statements against the war against terriorism....i.e. Iraq.

Every time that happens, our enemies resolve to stay the course....and know it's just a matter of time till we quit.........

It's treason.........

No doubt the Garrand was a great tool at the time to fight with.......but our dads, Granddads, brothers, uncles and cousins are what put us over the edge.

You are right, and the larger part was due to maritime power, air power, oil, $$$, and industrial might.

World War II was won by selfless people like my father in the US Army Air corp and my mother who worked at the Pentagon.  God bless them.
