I have my stainless guide gun set up as a scout.  I am very impressed with the scout scope setup.  I liked it so much I have even made a bolt gun into a scout setup too.  It is remarkably practical hunting rig.

Where did you get that large lever loope for when you wear gloves?  Dang if I don't like that and want one now for here in Montana.  the only thing yours is missing the M6 Tactical Light and Laser   But that flash light will do.

Now if one wanted to, they can leave the Ghost Ring Sights off and just go with the Scout Mount with a Ultra Dot, Red Dot or Handgun Scope.  8)

Mine happens to be a Wild West Guns lever but the DRC levers are pretty nice too.  I think the DRC are a little cheaper too.  The oversize loop help when shooting heavy loads too.  Give your hand more room to move around.

THe finish on my stock is several coats of spray on bedliner.  It has been one of the most durable stock finishes I have used.  I'm really impressed with it.  I used the duplicolor brand spray on bedliner.  Just make sure you sand all of the original finish off the wood before you use the bedliner.  Also don't forget to finish the inside of the wood with something durable and waterproof.

Two of my four Marlins are Scouts, a stainless 44 mag and a 336 in 35 Remington.  The 44 is slick as a Ferrari, but is kinda finicky about what nose porofiles it likes to feed.  The 44 wears a BSA 2X, the 35 has a 4X Simmons.  Both are capable of 3/4" groups at 50 yards or better with ammo they like.  I never wanted to scope my lever guns, but my eyesight has deteriorated to the point that I can't hit anything smaller than a Volkswagen unless I'm standing on it, and this way I keep the great carryability and balance intact.  Before I'm finished, I plan on having better scopes mounted on all four of my Marlins, but for now these will do.  The BSA 2X cost as much as the XS Scout Mount, and I didn't expect much from it, but the eye relief is perfect, and in 1500 rounds, it hasn't moved a bit.  My favorite drill with the 44 is snap-shooting soda cans at 50 yards with both eyes open, if I miss one it's ALL my fault.  Someday I'd like to put a target scope on it, just to test some loads and see what the gun is really capable of!  I think it would shoot into an inch at 100 yards if I could see the target well enough.  The 35 has already broken that mark, on several occasions.  I highly recommend the Scout concept, it has served me well.

I setup my 444p with a scout mount and a leopold scout scope.  I really like the setup and just today got a nice 10 pointer with it!!

What I do like the best is I am able to find deer in cover.  I always hunt with a pair of binos and a rifle.  I hunt in thick areas where most places I can only see about 75 yards and sometimes less.  When I look for deer using the binos I have trouble switching to the rifle and finding the deer.  I didn't have that problem at all.  The 2x power scope is about perfect for this type hunting.

I will be using this rig more often!!
