how my rossi's group

well, I went back out today to do some fine tuning with my rossis. I sighted the .357 in with 130 grn FMJ .38 specials, just for fun. It shot great with them, I tried some 158 grn LFN winchester cowboy loads, but was not impressed with the accuracy compared to the FMJ.

I then fine tuned the .308 rossi at 25 yards, since this is as far as I could shoot at this location I decided to sight it in 1" low so it would be close to center at 150, thanks to a tip here at the rossi forum and due to remington's ballistic calculator. It was kinda gusty today but not too bad. I sighted the .308 in with remington 150 grn core-lockt PSP. the hole about 1" below the bulll is a 5 shot group!

Here are my results.
[/url]

Rossi .357--- Standard length 23" barrel. Weaver 2x20 shotgun scope in bushnell rings on a weaver 39A base. Shooting 158 grn LFP and 130 grn FMJ gave the following groups (I wasnt trying to hit the dot, I was shooting at a previous bullet hole. each group is 3 shots.

Rossi .308---standard length 23" barrel. Bushnell banner, 3-9x40 in high weaver rings, on a standard rossi base. Shooting 150 grn PSP remington core-lockts. I was going for the dot with this firearm, sighting in at 1" low to accomadate  good rise/drop at longer ranges. The flyer to the right was my own fault, jerking on the trigger does not give good accuracy. the two in the red were quick shots holding center at 12 o'clock on the red.

I was very pleased with the accuracy from these rifles. These are stock guns and have no mods to them, and I was shooting off of a range box with a quilt folded up on top of it for a bench rest. just goes to show they can shoot as good-better than the NEF's  some are so fond of.

Questions?

Sounds like your off to a good start SSS. Not bad. These are all from 25 yards, then I take it?
I look forward to seeing your 100 yard report.
I am still looking for a 357. Persistance is the key  . Or at least I keep telling myself that :)
I mainly just want this caliber for plinking and over all fun. Though I will admit on ocassion I would hunt with it too. But I have other more serious calibers for that purpose.

We have a 45-Long Colt and the 44-magnum version. I took a deer with the 45-LC using PMC 300 grn. 45-Long Colt plus P ammo.

My wife is looking forward to going hunting with me. She plans on using her 44-mag. (Hmmm also I believe she plans on getting a bigger deer than me) That would be   or maybe not. :D

Is it the 45/410 that you have? or the lever gun? If it's the 45 lc/410 how does it shoot? what is the best group you have got with it?
thanks

i think they equal each other out. i mean Rossi's have a nicely shaped butt stock to the NEF/H&Rs, but H&R's have nice laminate stocks, both hold excellent groups. y'all know what i'm talkin about?
