Duce, I remember the Contender, but don't know where to find it. That one split along the line of scope mount holes. There was speculation an overly deep hole stated the process.
Local gunstore has or had a K frame S&W that was completely wrecked. My best guess is that a double or triple charge of Bullseye did that. Saw an FN-49 that had slamfired before the bolt fully locked. Gas vented out the back and bulged the action pretty good. Seen a bunch of shotguns blown up due to barrel obstructions. Seen a couple of 1917 Enfields that came apart, probably because of faulty heat treatment.
No doubt in my mind that you can blow guns up, but it's pretty rare, all things considered.
