Great job Tad! Looks like a good one. Just curious, what did he weigh?

I figure he weighed about 300 lbs. Heres a picture of me packing out Half the hog. It kinda gives you an idea how big it really was!

Tad,

I'm not real sure how big of a guy you are, but if you were of around 180-200lb. or so, I would say that the hog is closer to 400.  Now if you are smaller, my guess is that the hog is 350 or a touch less.  Of course that is based on domestic hog sizes of course.

I'm no expert on hog anatomy but I thought the heart was tucked in right behind the shoulder.  From the looks of that blood splotch it appears you must've hit'm in the jugular.  Did the heart have a hole in it when your opened him up? :?  BTW, you've got more nerve than me, shoot'n a pig that big on the ground at close range, EGADS!!

Thats accually the off side of where i shot him in the picture. He was laying in the blood, and there was blood everywhere. My arrow did not go all the way through, so i was real careful when dressing him out. When i opened the brisket, i saw my arrow shaft piercing straight through the heart- could not have centered it more if i tried! I have a cool picture of the heart with the arrow shaft through the middle. I dont think i should post it on the internet, so if you would like to see it, PM your email address and i will send it to you. Also i would like to say i was aiming for that shot, but it was just luck. The heart on a pig is very low in the shoulder, and i was aiming for lungs but my shot hit a little low. Hey- works for me! Boiler room is boiler room.

Thanks guys for all the congrats! :D
