I have killed several deer with them, worked like a charm inside of 175 yards.  I shot a deer at 242 yards in the shoulder and the bullet did not penetrate through the rib cage.  I know some people will say that it was the shot fault not the bullet, but that is the shot I like to take.  I imagine it would have still done its job just behind the shoulder.

I do know that a Barnes X or a Hornady SST will do the job out to 300 yards through the shoulder.

I have shot deer out to 275 yards with 150 grain ballistic tips in 7mm.  Dropped like a rock.

Good choice.
