Does anyone shoot one of these?

How is accuracy and reliability?

I am thinking of either this or the .308.

My 308 took some shooting to breakin but is grouping great now. Cant say for the 7-08 havnt tried one. Alot more bullets availible for the 308. I maybe wrong but I think the 7-08 is only availible with a superlight barrel they seam to be very finicky shooters. I would stay with a standard or bull barrel.

I believe the 7mm-08 is available in the standard handi and the youth model. It is not available with a synthetic stock, stainless, or superlight. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I'm not sure cant get to there web sight from work. But I think when I checked for replacement barrels it only showed a superlight so I assumed thats all they made it in. Probobly wrong though. Maybe someone else will know for sure.

The Superlight 7mm-08 barrel on the web site is a typo, it has a standard sporter contour, at least mine does. Barrel #707 is listed in the 2005 barrel list as 22" but not a Superlight and I believe someone confirmed this with H&R at one time or another.

I have both the Standard 7-08 and a 308 surviuor both fill a need for me and I love them both. I have not had any problems with the 308 and very few with the 7-08. I did swap the stocks to a black sybthetic set on the 7-08. Both of these rifles shoot near the 1 inch mark at a hundred, the 308 just under and the 7-08 just over. Gosh I love my Handies!!!

Hi I have the Handi in a 7mm 08 and like it. There are the sticky case issues which still show up... working on it. But shot three deer with it last season. Mine is just a reg barrel, laminated stock, nothing fancy but exactly what I wanted. Not done tweaking loads but hunted with loads that shot three shot groups of 1 1/8" at 100 yds. Very pleasant to shoot. even the 140 gr. bullet doesn't hurt even after shooting 36 shots a couple weeks ago working up a load for a new bullet. Bought the gun for my daughter to hunt with but she likes my .270 bolt so I carry this and will not even think about making her trade with me :grin: I like the gun and would buy another. in fact, I just might.. How many calibers do they come in...? Just kidding but will add to the handi section of the gun safe eventually. Brent

My son just got one today for his B-Day. 7mm-08 Youth Handy.
We loaded up some 140gr. Seirra Pro-Hunters with a mid level charge of IMR4350.
Won't get a chance to shoot it til next Thursday so not sure how accurate it is.

I found the load listed in the 7mm-08 Load USA book.(can be bought from MidwayUSA, has over 160 load combos or something like that)
