Remington's new 209 primer
« on: December 15, 2005, 08:13:22 AM »
Greetings to all.

After 3 months of shooting my Omega SS45, I can say that the new Remington 209 primer is the stuff!
We shoot Hodgdon 777 powder.
Chronographing has shown an increase in velocity over any other 209 primer. We've been able to load up to 40 grains more with the new Remington 209. The dreaded crud ring is all but gone as well.

When the guys at PRBullets say that the hotter 209's push the charge and bullet forward, they are absolutly right.

Using 3 different guns our groups have gotten tighter and the velocities have increased.

My best groups have been using PRBullets QT lead bullet. The next best group is with the TC ShockWave/ Hornady SST. PRBullets load much easier too.

When I was using the Winchester 209, my groups at 100 yards were 2', yes 2 feet in diameter. Now they are one clover leaf.
Between shots we use a spit patch.

My Brothers Remington will shoot 9" balloons at 250 yards, all day long.

Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays.

What load in your brothers Remington??  I've got both the 50 and 45, just curious.  I'd love the 250 yard shooting!

50 cal. Load

Remington 209
90 grains H777
TC ShockWave 200 grain
Tap/thump the powder measure when you think you have it filled, then fill to the top again.
Seat the bullet 1/4" more when it contacts the powder.
