I've made a personal commitment (to myself) in case the WBE (Wicked Bitch of the East) wins the Democrap nomination in '08.  I'm going to take $1000 out of my savings and send it to her Republican opponent.  I just can't stand by and do nothing if she gets the Demo nod.  I just hope that a lot of gun owners feel as strongly about this as I.

I don't have a grand to donate, but I will donate something. Even if the Rep. party runs Ronald McDonald for president. I would like to see a picture of her flying off into the sunset on her broom in total shame. I am embarrassed to come from the state that made her a senator. How the voters could be so blind and dumb to elect a carpet-bagger with her own agenda is beyond me. She has done little and never intended to do much. Just like health care when Bubba was POSTUS. They just wanted her in the national spotlight.

I hope the democrats are stupid enough to run her........That's been there biggest problem for some time now......go to the extremes of the party and pick some one who just isn't close to center......I will admit, Gore was close.......bet Clinton wished he'd not sent the Gonzalez boy back to Cuba.......probably would have won FL......

If the republican candidate is a shoe in, then I usually vote in the Democratic primary.........most of the time I vote for the dem that I think would be easiest for the republican candidate to beat........

Last election, the dems actually had a few good men on the ticket......but by the time my state voted they were gone........

All it's going to take for Hillary to bite the dust is for people to listen to one of her screaches.  Listening to finger nails clawing at a chalk board is music in comparison.  And it's more informative.

Democrat/Republican or Republican/Democrat, it's just the flip-side of the same coin.

There is no difference between the two, and it doesn't matter which one is in power or whom their candidate might be.

They are the same.

Neither of these factions respects or adheres to the Constitution, and they are corrupt beyond salvation.

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

Hillary is just one of the Democrats harpies in waiting.  She's playing it low-key right now, but Chuck Schumer is showing his face more than Jesse Jackson these days, and he's even more wild left than Hillary.

Dusty - don't worry.  You can save your money.  The democrats may be dumb but they are not stupid.  They want an election winner; she isn't it and she and the democrats know it.  She is much more effective as a sidelining backstabber than she would be as a candidate.  Interesting note - even people with scurious backrounds like hers can make a lot of snide public remarks without being hurt by them but put those same people in the spotlights and they fold pretty quickly.

The only reason she is even able to continue her babbling is because she is located in the heart of liberal-town and is next door neighbors with slimy chuck.  He is much more the zealot and is also arrogant enough to think he could stand a chance against a real presidential candidate, but he would fold faster than fat al sharpton or jesse the jackson.  I think the only presidential possibility you will see out of NYC for the next decade is Guilliani.  I think if the Republicans got him to consider running neither of those two democrats would even think of joining the race.  That's just my take on it.  Mikey.

I wish I had your confidence in her inability to win. But from where I'm sitting I don't see how she can lose. All the die hard dems will vote for whoever ends up facing off in the final election. All the gays, most all the blacks, all the hispanics and most women will vote for her. Sadly in this country that's a won election.

Graybeard is right.  We elected Nixon twice and Bill Clinton twice, the American electorate is dumb as hell.  They'd elect candidate 666 if they thought he'd lower their taxes!!  Hillary can lie with the best of them and by the fall of '08 she'll look so MODERATE that half the country will want to kiss her backside and tell the other half how sweet it smelled!  Don't count her out by a long shot.  Politics is a tricky business and HC knows all the tricks.

well the gays and blacks and such voted for Kerry this time and Bush still won...

and remember, this is a woman...other leaders in countries less advanced than ours will not like this. in fact some will not even come to the table to meet with her. china especially will not accept this.

besides the fact that a lot of people probably would not vote for a woman...i think thats wrong but i also think its true...and might help our side.

also remember that not everyone forgets what it was like to have her in the white house. stolen items, lies, damaged property when she moved out, etc.

she is not good at fooling people. even liberals i know hate her. the most important thing we can do is run the best GOP guy out there...someone smooth and smart and charming, more like Bill was. someone who appeals to the masses.

Anyone who thinks there is no difference between Dumbycrats and Republicans has not been paying attention.  It's true that as members of Congress they all like to spend money and as Presidents they seem unable to keep us out of conflicts that a lot of people don't agree with, but when you look at the extremes of both parties, the Dems are true socialists--gungrabbing socialists--know what's best for you socialists.

I'll take a Republican every time--even one that Dumbycrats would call extreme--over any of the Dumbycrats who would actually stand a chance of being nominated by what that party has become.  And I fully realize that both parties are rushing headon into socialism, but it will take the Republicans a bit longer to get us there than the Dems.  With any luck, we'll a least still have our guns if we can keep the Dems out of power and that is what it's all about.

Not meaning to get something started here, but just a few historical facts.

The republicans have had the white house for 8 years.

One party getting the white house for more than 8 years has only occurred 4 times in the last century.

Teddy Roosevelt, 1901-1909 followed by Taft during the years of 1909 thru 1913.......12 years here, then the democrat Woodrow Wilson came in for 4 years.

Another good run of 12 years started in 1921 with Harding, then Coolidge, and Hoover ending in 1933.

The the Democrats had the white house for 20 years, With Frankin Roosevelt from 1933 thru 1945 then Harry Truman from 1945 to 1953.

Ronald Reagan followed by George Bush from 1981-1993.

George Bush and the republican party have now been in the white house for what will be 8 years.  12 years is not impossible, but was only done 4 times in the last century.

With the war in Iraq and the declining satisfaction poll numbers, the Republicans are no shoe in for 4 more years.  It will be difficult, but not impossible, to keep a republican in the white house another 4 years.  If they are to do it a dominant front runner needs to appear and very soon.

We can only hope there will be another 12 year period at the beginning of this century.......just like at the beginning of the last century.

Here's a link to the list of presidents and the dates they were in the white house.  http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0194030.html

Oh, well since we're paying attention, maybe we ought to look at how the current Republican controlled government has infringed on the 1st amendment with the McCain-Feingold Act.  Or how the U.S. Attorney General has been given the executive authority to make rulings on constitutional issues i.e., the 2nd Amendment right of individuals to keep and bear arms, but subject to government government regulation and the 8th Amendment mandate against cruel and unusualpunishment.  How about outright violations of the 4th Amendment right to privacy, and against unreasonable search and seizure contained in the Patriot Act?

If the Demorats are socialists, the Republicrumbs are fascists, fascists of the genuine "...show me your papers and then sit down and shut up or I'll blow your f-ing head off!" variety.

What you're saying to me is that you don't want to vote for someone who might violate your rights, you want to vote for someone who gets the job done.

Neither of these parties deserve the loyalty or consideration of anyone who loves this nation.

For sure the Republicans haven't done themselves proud during the Bush administration. I think President Bush to be an honest and honorable man but he's got some advisors to whom he listens that do not have the best interest of this country at heart. I don't think his personal vision of what's best is right anymore either. He has strayed from what I think was his chosen path since becoming President. Why I guess I'm not sure.

Yes Matt the blacks and gays voted for Kerry and Bush still won. Barely.

But the Latinos didn't block vote for him as Bush held a lot of power with Mexicans especially but other spanish speaking folks as well. He also took a fair percentage of the black vote. He took a fair bit of the women's vote as well which I'm not sure any one can running against Hillery.

Right now I just don't see a shining star in the Republican camp who can even make a decent showing. I hope someone magically appears and soon but at this time I just don't see him. I know many keep talking about running a woman against her and while that would split the women's and black votes I don't see the only choice being mentioned as any better and it might even be worse if that is possible. No way I'd vote for either if it came down to that choice.

I think there is a difference between the parties.  The Democrats are running the country to hell in a handbasket.  The Republicans are doing nothing to stop it.  They need a little backbone.

A year ago I would have said Hillary had a lock on the '08 Democratic nomination.  Now I wouldn't.  She has been playing up to the moderates which will cost her support in the left wing of the party.  Time will tell.  But I would not consider Schumer to be any improvement, especially on gun control.

But for the moment, let's assume she gets the nomination.  There has been talk of Condi running.  A Hillary vs Condi race would be a real spectacle.  You could sell popcorn!  What happens to the women's vote?  The black vote?  What happens to talk about a glass ceiling for blacks?  What happens to the theory that only the Democratic party does anything for blacks?  Of course the Democrats will foam at the mouth, there's nothing they hate more than a conservative black, the Democrats figure, "By God, we OWN 'em!"  The media would really get wrapped around the axle!

That's the one scenario that would have me voting for a third party candidate. The folks in GA warned the rest of the nation about Jimmy Carter but would anyone listen? Nooooo. Well I'm telling you Condi is no better choice. I'd as soon see Hillary in office. Not sure I'd not rather see Hillary in.

The Bush administration has walked all over the constitution.  The patriot act in particular.  The good thing is we haven't had another Ruby Ridge or Waco.  The bad thing is while Bush has commented on the Axis of evil, his administration has done more to increase trade with China thus allowing the Chinese military to grow at a huge rate, destabilizing our strategic advantage.  The Bush administration has grown the size the federal government at an unprecedented rate.  Most americans would love to see the the illegal immigration problem effectively addressed and border security tightened, but the Bush administration turns a blind eye as the big guys need cheap labor.

I don't want to get started on Bush.....but he sure isn't what I'd expected.

There are rumors of another Tennessean that might be interested in seeking the white house, Senator Bill Frist.  I frequently e-mail my senators and representatives, but the only one who chooses to answer is Lamar Alexander.  This is funny to me as I vote every time the polls open.

I voted third party once.....and wound up with Bill Clinton.......I probably won't vote third party again.......

Well OK, graybeard, what do you know about Condi that I don't?

As for third parties, my sympathies are Libertarian, but we have a political system that's stacked against third parties.  Some countries with a parlimentary form has effective third parties, but I don't care for the parlimentary form, makes the executive too dependent on the legislature.

So what's the answer?  I don't know.  But I do have a couple of suggestions.  We should have three houses in the legislature.  Say two correspond to what we have now.  In the house it should require a 2/3 vote to pass anything.  In the new third body, it would take a 1/3 vote to repeal anything.  They don't pass anything, their only function is to repeal.

On the other hand, if they made me the Grand Poobah, Generalissimo, Great Leader, and absolute dictator for life, the first thing I would do is make all parking spaces eigth inches wider.  But I'm not holding my breath.

I think it is really too early to see who will be the hot ticket in '08.  I really like Bush's damage control this week with his taking some responsibility for Iraq and the like.  I think this may sway a lot of potential voters back to the right.  On the other hand, unless the democrats really fumble the ball, I don't see how they could actually lose the '08 election.  Why, you ask?  Think of all the ammo they have to launch about this administration, and therefore, the republican party in general...  WMD's in Iraq, Iraqi oil paying for the war, Katrina response, Bridge to Nowhere, skyrocketing deficit, THE tax cuts, illegal immigration, gas prices, outing CIA agent, NSA spying on US citizens, Patriot Act, cuts in the Farm Bill, proposed cuts in Medicade, etc.  Hmmm...maybe I should try for the democratic nomination?  I bet, even I could win...if I had a $500,000,000 war chest, that is!
