Wondering if anyone has heard of or used lure made for ringtails :roll: , and if not , what works. :grin:

I have been in the trap supply business for over 14 years---never heard of a lure for ringtails. Afraid I couldn't tell you what would work,even when state hopping, I have never been in area that contained them.

Ive heard that Lenons fox lure works great on ringtails. Since i never trapped one or used that lure for ringtails im just passing on information that was told to me from out west. Maybe BulletBox would know something about this.... i will let him know about this post.

If Asa says it will work then it will work...

I use a bait for most of mine...

I use 2 cans of jack mackrell (sp)
Honey, beaver castor, and ASAFOETIDA

I put the 2 cans of fish in a quart jar, then add about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of beaver castor then about 1/2 ounce of ASAFOETIDA

I then add enough honey to make it a thick paste... the honey keeps it from spoiling...

Bobcat urine is also an attractor... I put a piece of cotton rag on each one of my bucket handles and give it a squirt of bobcat urine...

This works for me...

Another tip, if you put a knife to a ringer you are costing yourself a ton of cash.. Taxidermist love these critters and will pay dearly for them...

PS:

I use mainly body grip traps... 160's in a bucket... no need in breaking legs...

I use to catch a bunch of ringers every year, but something happended to ours... not many left in the county... but I plan to head for some new country now that these deer hunters are through... and maybe hang a few of them high dollar ringers...
