300 WSM pet loads?
« on: December 13, 2005, 02:42:10 PM »
Anybody have a pet load for a 300WSM shooting 150gr. Nosler Partitions.  I have loaded IMR 4350 at 63.5 gr. and it did ok, and am going to test the Varget next time I get a chance.  I was just wondering what works for you.  I am shooting a Browning A-bolt.

My favorite load is 75 gr H4831sc with 150 gr Hornady which chronos at 3180 fps. Accurate and deadly out of my Tikka with 22" barrel.

Had worked up a pretty good load for 165 gr. hornady spire point with
with 63 gr. 4350. Had some accuracy issue with the gun that were intermitent ( see gunsmith log ie. some loose action screws.) Working now with some 4064 and 150 gr. sierra boat tails, my rifle has a 22 inch
barrel so 4350 with 150 grainers seemed really loud and alotta muzzle flash 4064 seems to be doing alot better in that dept., shot one 3 shot group the other day did not bother to measure but looked well under .5 inch.
Again this is just the beginning of testing with this combo and it was a
relative mild load, still believe it holds some promise, try to get back with results after christmas.

My best accuracy so far is with IMR 4350 @62.5 gr and Nosler 168 gr boats. I'm putting in in Norma brass with BR-2 primers.
I haven't shot it through a chrono yet but it consistently shoots High 2's and low 3's.
