Has anyone on here hunted at Bowguns Hunting Lodge in Indiana...? I am going to book a hunt there in Sept., mostly because it's only about 2 1/2 hours from my front door as opposed to driving all the way to Tennessee to the tune of eight or nine hours... :grin:

I've talked to them, and got their brochure... they sound like a quality operation, and they have all sorts of neat exotics, even javelina which I thought was kind of cool... :wink: If anybody wants further info., I put their link on my "Wild Boar" links page at: http://www.accs.net/users/drquick/wildboar.html You will find their link among all the others there... Hi Dave, I just returned from my hunt at Bowguns. We had a terrific time, the owner Dave Herring is a excellent guide and has more wit than John Goodman. My son and I had some real thrills from a close encounter with 2 boars but our SRHs saw us through. I highly recommend Bowguns it is professionally run with the customers given every attention and courtesy. We spoke of you today and he is anxious to take you and the special kids on hunts.

I've lived in Indiana all my life, and I have never heard of the place. Where is it located? How big is the hunting area? Does he have a lodge?

Yeah Dave I have been munching on it for a couple days days. It taste good but it is a little more challenging to chew, probably my cooking. I am happy with the pictures, thanks for the picture taking tips. I have been eyeballing your Javelina I feel that hunting itch starting again. That great deal you have coming up on your buffalo is killin me too.

Try par-boiling the meat for a good long spell prior to the final cooking. What I do with my "wild" boar chops, ribs etc. it to boil them for at least an hour or so, then simmer them for several hours... on the hams I like to smoke them that makes it nice just to throw in the oven for a while and start carving.. on the rest of the meat just try to cut in normal thickness seems to cook better and not be tough..

Okay, gonna ask again. Couldn't find Williamsburg on the map, so where is it located in Indiana? Also, how big is the hunting area?

Mad Dog, I don't have the raod map right here in front of me, but I think I can tell you so you can find it on the map... If you start by finding I-70 going east out of Indianapolis, or for that matter, St. Road 38 which is what I will be using out of Frankfort, just follow it east with your finger until you come to 35 which is very near the Ohio line. Follow 35 back north. It curves back a bit toward the west, and if you look close, you will find Willamsburg there along 35.... Just a tiny dot on the map... If you like, I can scan the brochure (map) and email that to you...

No, I don't recall seeing anything in the brochure that tells, but redhawk44p, who started this post was just there... He would be the one to ask. Or, you could log on to the Bowguns website and send them an email... Jody and David are great about getting back with you. While you are at it, why not request a brochure. Did you know that I plan to go there around the first or second week in Sept. ? I will be arriving on a Monday, and leaving out probably early on Wed. morning... They have told me that through the week, it's quite and will be like I own the place. I like that. I've been before to places that were so loaded with clients that it was just too crowded for my taste. I'll fire redhawk44p an email and see if he will check in here and get some of you questions answered... Dave

Just take I-70 to 35 N then to Centerville Rd go north and watch for buffalo when you see them your there.

the hunting area is 296 acres but it is divided into different areas the boar are imported from canada they are the wildest ones that we can find and some are very aggressive.. go to grand mcnally.com and get quick directions street address is 11305 n. centerville road williamsburg in 47393 this will get you right to my driveway. thanks,
