The Donald may run...
« on: January 02, 2006, 06:02:39 PM »
Fox news says that Donald Trump may run for governor...
Now, I don't really care a lot for that big ball of EGO...but he may be what we need to somehow get business going here again...
Seems like there is NO WAY we will ever get a conservative in ststewide office , no matter what their "label" is..

...Does lead me to wonder though, if Trump believes in the second      amendment...does anybody here know ?

Man, let's hope he doesn't run.  Or, he can waste his money.  This guy is little more than a showman.  I wouldn't want him in office.  He would listen to the wrong people.  He forgets you cannot run a governmental administration like a business - it doesn't work.  JMHO.  Mikey.

Are there any "pro gun" republicans in New York State? The two most popular republicans in the state (George Pataki and Rudy Giuliani) are worst then most democrats when it comes to "gun control". George isn't running again and who knows what Rudy will do. I have no idea if Trump is pro gun or not.

At least two that I know of..both personal acquaintances..

Congressman Randy Kuhl...and an old friend Congressman Tom Reynolds..

Actually, NRA maintains a website where one can read how the various state reps voted...and the GOP has a huge pro 2nd amendment lead over the Dems...

Our local state senator Cathy Young is farm-raised and very pro gun.

Perhaps someone will give us the web address of the NRA's " how they vote" list...

ironglow, I just joined the NRA last month. I let my last membership run out about 5 years ago.

Back in 1999 or 2000 when they were pushing hard for Missouri to be a "shell issue" state (ended up failing that time, at least they were doing something) I called them to see what we could do about getting a more consistent system in New York State for issuing "CARRY PERMITS". The guy on the phone said that's not something the NRA is interested in doing. So I wasn't interested in the NRA. Was I wrong....maybe!

Nope, Trump just stated publically that he has no interest in running for the governor's office.  Honestly then, that leaves us with that new yawk city zealot spitzer as the most likely next governor.

This is a wake-up call for all of us in NYS.  Time to dig the holes and put in the false walls - this sob will definately want to disarm us all and will put into force new laws to do so.  spitzer doesn't give a squat about our rights or us and would definately use the cops and nat'l guard to disarm the state's population if he gets his little winkie in a miff.  So either hide your stuff away or get ready for one heck of a fight, because that raving zealot will definately bring it to your homes and have your doors kicked in just to show you that he can do it and get away with it.

eliot spitzer will make neu o'leans look like a picnic when it comes to firearms confiscation.  Best get ready for it now.  JMHO.  Mikey.

Mikey, I don't think we can do much worst then Pataki. Let us not forget that Pataki was the one that came up with "ballistic finger printing" (then Maryland followed) and a law that mirrors the "federal assault weapons ban". New York's great republican governor is as anti-gun as they come, personally I really don't think we can do any worst.

The only thing keeping me in NY is my job, I'll never find another one like it. If something happens to it and it could very well, we're outta here and aint coming back!

I really do love this state. Its the people that run it that I hate. As long as we have New York City (8 million people) and its surrounding areas (another 4 million or so people), add a few of the other larger cities (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and their suburban area's that are mostly liberals) into the mix and that's another 3 to 4 million people, NY is always going to be a liberal minded state. NYC is the money capital of the world. As much as NYC hurts the rest of the state with their liberal mind set, they help the rest of the state to some extent financially. Most (or a lot of) of our republican's think like liberals.

I'm not a democrat or a republican. I think you need a mix. The problem with NY is that it's hard to tell the difference between the two a lot of the time! This is just my opinion. Others will differ and that's fine.

NY Hunter;
I can concur with you 100% on your last post ! We simply cannot get a conservative elected official in NY state...and for exactly the reasons you outlined.
Yes; you do have a good job ( my son used to truck out of there) and you should hang onto it as long as you can..
But as a young man, if anything were to happen to that job...I can't blame you for "voting with your feet !"...

It is tragic, with NY (outside the cities), being such a beautiful place and having such wonderful and free hunting..

Like you, I am not a member of either major party . I am registered with the Conservative party..since that's my natural inclination...

...But unfortunately, the Libs run NY ..and will sooner or later, run it...right into the ground..

That's what happens when you have more people taking from the pie than putting into the recipe !
I have already told my son, who feels some responsibility toward his parents...that when Mom and I are buried, I can understand how he may well want to leave here...and he has my blessings..sad, but true..

Have you noticed how many NY State politicians live off the taxpayers for 30-40 years..then take their big, fat , lucrative, self-provided retirement and skip off to Florida or Arizona ?

They don't know the meaning of "shame".

Oh yes you can get worse than Pataki - have you forgotten cuomo and his son, and hud and S&W already.

Don't kid yourself - pataki's gun dna bill was just a waste of money.  Cuomo would have taken your rights had the press not (basically) killed him off - the press knew they had to do that or after gun control they would have been next.  You folks seem to forget how the demo-libs tend to feed off their own when things start going bad.

And if you think it is bad now, you just wait.  spitzer will be the next governor - he is a freedom hating zealot who would have no problem with taking your rights, or your guns.  andrew cuomo wants to ride his coattails into the attorney generals office - now there's a communist for you.  That sob won't have any problems having your doors kicked in just to show he can do it and get away with it.

if those two get into office there will be more bloodshed than in new orleans and new orleans will look like a picnic compared to what those anarchists have in store for us.

When you look at what we've got now it is nothing compared to what we're gonna get and you had better believe they will start the war and bring it right to your door.  They will use any means they can to suborn your rights and jail you and they will.

This isn't going to be funny- those two zealots will start a war.  Hey, look at San Franciso - if they can do that there, spitzer and cuomo can do the same here statewide and that is exactly what they want, an unarmed population subject to their whims and taxes.

Quit complaining and save your breath, you're gonna need it.  Mikey.
