Buying an encore, couple of questions
« on: December 28, 2005, 06:15:36 AM »
I am going to buy an encore next week.  Looking to buy a stainless .50 with synthetic stock.  What should I look at on the gun so I don't get a bad one, if that is possible?  Thanks for your help.

scoe, I bought one recently and it is incredibly accurate as both a .308 pistol as well as a muzzleloader.  Other than working the action and giving it a good once-over, I couldn't imagine getting a bad one, especially in stainless and synthetic.  It is probably one of the simplest, yet toughest designs out there.

I did remove the extractor, since it made priming harder to load, and I don't feel it's needed in a muzzleloader.

The forearm screws tended to back out some. I degreased them, and no more problems.

Good luck, I'll think you'll like your choice
