I'm still shooting a vintage Ruger Deerstalker in 44mag. Best 5 shot group @ 100yds is 1.68".
I shoot 300gr Hornady XTP's with a max load of W296. Think I'll take this one PD hunting this spring. :)

 I have one of the Deerfield's and am very impressed with it accuracy. My only complaints are  26.00 for another magazine and it is only a four shot at that.  And the stock is very short for me and cannot find an aftermarket stock for it. If I could make a wish it would be for a Hogue overmold stock and a ten shot clip for it.

A short stock sounds just right for me. I usually have my stocks shortened a bit anyway.
Talked with the folks at Ruger the other day. They will allow you to trade in a vintage Deerstalker and send you a new Deerfield for $335.00.
Interesting.

I bought my Deerfield for about a hundred bucks more then that a Bass Pro shop. I don't know what your gun is worth but surely more than a hundred bucks!
