330 ?
« on: January 02, 2006, 05:52:14 PM »
Last week I set a 330 in a narrow beaver run. Then next morning it was gone, stake and all. I put my waders on and finally found the 330 15 foot out into the pond. It was fired with the trigger wires wedged between the jaws of the trap. The same thing happened to me last year except I caught that beaver. Any ideas on what I'm doig wrong?

I always set with my trigger on the bottom,I also bend them into a rounded---m---.I think if you do this ,you will not run into any problems.
When I set my trap,I make sure that the trigger sits in the middle of the jaws,my guess is,one of the trigger wires was off to the side to far. When your trap was fired, the trigger wire got entangled in the jaw ,and kept the jaws from closing fully.

The first time I ever set my 330, I set it with setters and put the safetys on both sides of the springs and set it over a beaver run and forgot to unset the safetys.  The next day I found it halfway sprung and I think I made the beaver in that pond trap shy.  Just a possibility of what could of happened.  Hope you find the answer to your problom though.
