If 330's are an excellent trap, would 440'sa be better still? Thinking about getting some conibears for spring trapping should I stay with the common 330'sa or try the new 440'sa?

How big is to big?
I have had very good luck with regular sized 330s,85 pounds has been my largest.I have also taken a very large number of the 60 and 70 pounders in the standard 10 x 10s.I have no intentions of going bigger,I personally don't need a bigger one.

I've trapped for a few years and I don't think anything bigger than a 330 is necessary. Nothing I've caught needed anything bigger. In fact, I think the spread on a 440 would be too large for your average beaver. Ever catch a medium-sized raccoon in a 330? It hits them in the chest, not behing the head like a 220 would.

i had a 330 snap closed on my hand once-in front of witnesses.  funny thing is i had forgotten about it until my brother made a wise crack about it,  and then it all came rushing back.   :)    can you believe i escaped unscathed?   i wouldnt want to experience that again with a 330, let alone a 440.  yikes.

I modified some of my 330's into 660's in case I ever need a larger trap to cover larger openings. I'm not saying they will ever be nessacary, but I like to have all the bases covered. Worm

Fish, the trigger on the 660 is longer and can be bent to cover the longer opening. The heighth is the same as a regular 330.
