When handloading with vmax's, Nosler Ballistic tips, Blitz King's etc, how much off the lands have you found to be the sweet spot. I find that with Nosler 50gr Ballistic Tips, my OAL is 1.993 to touch the lands. Man this seems long. I've normally loaded 40gr vmax's to 1.900 with about 1" At 100 YRDS. What works for you guy's? Thanks

I'm loading the 40 gr V-Max at 1.93" and getting about 1" groups at 100 yards. I'm thinking I settled on that length, because it was as long as the action would close on.

the hornet i had had a very long throat so i just seated the bullet (35 grain v-max) about 22 cal deep and it would shoot about 1/2 inch groups with H110

My Handi loved 45 gr Hornadys as far out as possible I couldnt touch the lands and still have a good seat in the case. I got a Ruger heavy barrel Hornet and had to put my bullet back almost 1/4" to fit in the magazine. I havent yet tested for accuracy.

thats why i like single shots dont have to bother about mags.
