Ok, I have been reading post about BP barrels for Contenders for a few weeks now, and also reading about folks taking Encore BP barrels and grinding off tabs and such to make the BP barrel fit the Contender.
I've read about the frame stretch of Contender frames under heavy recoil, and about how closed breach barrels take all the recoil (and having shot my T\C Hawken for 25 years I gotta say, it hasn't split the wood on that stock yet and my 10" 410 Contender barrel has more recoil---but that is just me with no scientific evidence to back up anything).
Having blurted all of that out, I was perusing thru Midway's catalog and I come across Product # 643-194. This is a 209X50 BP muzzleloading barrel by T\C that they say:Thompson Center Barrel Contender, G2 Contender 209x50 Caliber 1 in 28" Twist 24" Blue Adjustable Sights
This is a factory Thompson Center Contender and G2 Contender Barrel. Barrels for the Contender and G2 Contender are interchangeable.
Now, granted the price is $250 but it is a BP barrel for the Contender. And unless I am not reading something right here, I didnt thing you could get one of those.
Any help or corrections would be appreciated.
Dave.
