New York Hunter - Well let me see if it will let me post this reply to you since it hasn't taken half of my posts this week! Had some good info for a couple of posters but couldn't get my answer through to them. Oh well, I guess I'll just keep trying... CEJ...

Been having trouble loggin in and posting for a few days now.

If this statement posts, it'll be the first successful post in a couple of days.

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

There seems to be a glitch in the get-a-long.  You can bet GB is in hot pursuit.

Tried to post twice on the 1911 page and got an "error" page when it finally responded.

And here I thought it was all MY fault!

Not fixed yet but I think we're close. Matt has been downloading the database as a back up just in case things go wrong when he attempts the correction. Even with a high speed cable modem it took many hours to down load and backup the database.

He will go thru and purge the database of things that do not belong in it that seem to be corrupting it. He will at the same time replace the software with a fresh new copy and add none of the mods we all like so well. We'll run bare base software and banners for awhile to be sure all is really fixed. Then when we're confident it is we'll begin adding back some of the mods one at a time leaving each running a few days before we decide if it stays or goes and the next one is added to check its impact on the site.

The process will continue at least the rest of January but by February hopefully we'll be nearly back to normal with the more popular mods added back.

Hopefully Matt and Graybeard will not get a case of the "computer blues."  Many computer folks work late nights and weekends to keep customers happy.  I have seen the strain bear down hard on some people.  Back in the 80's when the outfit I worked for went to computers I watch computer people age overnight.

The point is that Matt and Graybeard need to take care of themselves.  Graybeard should not take his wireless laptop into the tree stand.

My son-in-law has a good health program for a computer geek.  Depending on the weather he gets over 100 miles a week in on his bicycle, and spends a couple of nights a week practicing his 3rd degree blackbelt form.

I appricate the hard work going on in the background.  I do get frustrated, and concerned when things do not work right, but understand that is part of the computer business.  Just think the State of California has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on computer programs they have had to junk.

In turn computers do great things.  I had a out of State parolee pulled over and had the dispatcher do a check on him.  I found out he was wanted for bank robbery in S. California ten years before.  He thought it was taken care of while his was in prision for manslaughter in a unrelated case.  A search of his vehicle produced a shotgun with a 15 inch barrel and cut off stock.

Computers allow us to enjoy Graybeard Outdoors, I just hope Graybeard continues to enjoy it, and not fall out of his tree stand.

Actually I've given up treestands cuz I do fall too often. The last time I was in one as I was climbing out to get on the ladder for some reason I just let go. I found myself falling backward and had I not managed to catch just in time would have landed 14' below either on my back or on my head. Either way I'd likely not be here today. So I don't climb into trees anymore.

With my shortness of breath problems I've had to pretty much stop hunting completely but treestands will not be in my future for sure. I'm no longer safe climbing even on ladders.

G-B   Trees are for squirrels.   I have a tall milking stool that I sit on and lean up against a tree.  That's my tree stand.  Thanks for what you do.

I've not had a problem yet this morning but at times the response is a bit slow. We're still trying to figure it out. What Matt did two nights back should have fixed it but obviously hasn't.

same here, and it sometimes signs me out when i close the window and decide to come back later in the day, i have to sign in again even though i clicked on "keep me logged in."

I assume that's from updating software in the meantime.
