Colt New Frontier Cylinder
« on: January 10, 2006, 10:09:25 AM »
Hi, I have a Colt New Frontier In 44spl and I was wondering about getting a 44-40 cyl fitted for it also.  I have seen them listed with both cylinders and I was wodering if anyone has done this and where would be the best place to start?  I figured the Colt custom shop would be one place IF the cyl on the New Frontier is the same as one the SAA.  Thanks for your time.

I found one on ebay and check Gunbroker too and Peacemaker Specialties 530-472-3438 and Numrich and Pittsburg Handguns 412-766-6100.

Be aware that the two will not shoot to the same point of aim.  The lighter 200 gr bullets of the 44-40 will shoot low.  Not a big problem on an adjustable sight gun like the New Frontier, but I don't like to keep changing my sight settings.  The 44 special is more versatle and easier to reload being a straight sided case.  44 Man

44Man,  I realize they won't shoot to the POA but, I have a Win 92 in 44-40 and I would like to have a SAA to go with it and figured it would be alot cheaper than buying a new gun.  I have 4 other 44spl's so I would probably leave the New Frontier in 44-40.  Thanks :D
