I have a 14" in 45 Win Mag, and it is very versitle. with manageable recoil and good accuracy.  I like the option of being able to shoot 45 auto ammo out of the same barrel.  It is easy to reload, and I have my best luck with Hornady 230 gr HP, with 23.8 Gr. of H4227,or 27.0Gr. of w296

I had much better luck with BlueDot in this cartridge fired in a 10" T/C.  I had trouble getting H110 to burn well without a crimp, but BD gave similar velocities and much better accuracy, and it was cleaner burning.  Lyman shows the highest velocities with BD using 230-grain bullets and lighter, and near-top with 250s.  Recoil was slightly less with BlueDot versus H110, but the fireballs at the muzzle were about the same for each.   Since it gave no better performance than my .45LC barrels - I sold the .45WM.    :D

I have a 14" tube that is one of my most accurate .In my opinon Blue Dot is the powder for the winmag. Mine will shoot one ragged hole out to 75 yards. Its one of my favorites.

We produce the .45 Win Mag and I still use an IMI chambered for the same. H110 and W296 work well.

I hunt black bear in Maine with the 45 Win mag, 10" barrel. I love shooting it! Haven't reloaded for it yet, but plan on it this winter. Very accurate with factory ammo.
Using government to make us all feel great is getting rather expensive don't you think?

I like some unloved calibers. The 45 WM is what I carry on drives for whitetails. It is accurate out to over 50 yds with iron sights. I have a 10" and it is easy to carry and shoot in tight cover. Downloaded to 45ACP velocities, it is a fun plinker. Fully loaded, it packs quite a punch. Can I really say it is better than the more common 44 mag - no. Does it make me happy - yes.

Been awhile since I posted but... This is one of my favorite barrels [10"] w a target turret 1.5X scope [really poor eyes] I use the target turret cause my 240 gr. XTP's [also over blue dot] shoot to alot different point than good ole 45ACP's. Both shoot better than I, and sure are fun.    $0.02 fm   MV
