as for a scope-- honestly, if your looking for a great value.... check out some of the bsa mid power variables-- i have a 4-16x40 a/o mil-dot lit recticle on one of my other .22's and love it. set me back about 150 bucks. not quite the vari-xIII 4.5-14 i have on my 250 but about a 4th the price.

Hello Fellow New Mexican, Welcome to Gray Beard, As good a place as you can find to get all the advice you need and some you don't, Sounds to me like you are getting off to a good start. As for you choice of scopes, As long as it works for you thats all that matters. Your choice of calibers is great in my humble opinion, I have had a 22- 250 since before it was called a 22-250. It used to be called a 22Varminter until Remington started loading for it. It was originally designed by Charles Newton in about 1920 from A savage 250-3000 and is still the standard for Comparison amoungst Varmint hunters and target shooters today.

Hi nm22250 and welcome to GB. It sounds like you got a good set up now. How does the load group out of your gun? Dont you like the Simmons you have on it. What dealing i have had with BSA scopes you pay for what you get!! But i am a Nikon scope man my self. But that is just my.02 cents worth. VM :D

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have decided to keep the simmons. I havent really had a chance to check the grouping due to windy conditions all the time. But i did get a chance to go hunting with it yesterday and got one coyote at about 200 yards no sweat.
