Hi gunnut,
No reason in particular, except that it seems to me like excessive movement. The slide rattles if I shake it. The gun has not been taken out recently to give it sufficient accuracy testing, so I couldn't say whether accuracy is affected.
As for the subject of "looseness", I have a Sig 220 which has some play, but the 239 has a little more. Maybe a few thousandths of an inch of extra space. That was not measured out, so it should be considered only a rough estimate.
I was concerned the movement by the slide might hinder accuracy enough to be considered unacceptable. I'm aware that there should be some play, enough so that a small grain of dirt won't tie up the action altogether. Although, I will try to get it out soon to verify whether or not accuracy is affected. As of now, I'm treating it as something miniscule and nothing to worry about. I was just curious if there was a process out there that can tighten a slide up slightly if necessary.
In your opinion, how much slide play should be considered too much?
Duh me, I guess you could say when accuracy goes down the drain, right?
Thanks for your time.
