REWORKING SEAR AND HAMMER
« on: January 13, 2006, 09:57:39 AM »
Bought an old Winchester 190 at a sale and it had the usual problems. Repaired those, mainly loose barell and it had more dirt in it than my garden. checked great on bench test I thought the trigger pull was really lite though. So I loaded it with live ammo and on test firing the sear intermittenly fails to engage and she'll go full auto at times or won't cock the hammer, and if it does cock she's dangerous and will trip out over nothing. Problem is the sear and hammer notches are severly worn. If these are redone will they hold up over time or is the core metal too soft. Didn't know if they were surface hardened or if this was just a bad set of hammers and sears
