Camo laminate stock and forend...QUESTION???
« on: January 14, 2006, 05:46:54 PM »
Several questions...
first, do the h&r camo laminates fit a handi?
second,  when your on h&r/nef website why do they not offer camo laminate...just cinamon?
third, quick posted in FAQ's 2005 parts list, camo laminates were listed there, can I order the set from them or do I need to go thru reteail?

most importantly...question #1 will camo laminates fit on my handis?

Also would appreciate some pics of camo laminates if anyones got...only seen em once. They look sharp!!!

yup your fine and don't worry about a question being stupid ask away. i'll bet you would feel a lot stupider if you didn't ask and went and bought one and it didn't fit.

Yes, you can call em and order it. The number is on the bottom of the retail price sheet. Be sure to ask if that stock is checkered, seems to me the checkered is about $10 more....if you want checkered stocks.

Northofthe 49....I'm sorry, but I just noticed you're from Canada(thanks Mac!!! ), H&R/NEF won't ship stocks to Canada....I don't think. You can order them from Brownell's, they do ship to Canada.

The Cabelas Premier, by a long shot!! NO PUN!!! :-D The Benchmaster is great for heavy recoil, but the Premier can be set high enough that a very erect shooting position can be used so the recoil is much more managable that a normal low rest. Cabelas ships to Canada too.

Did I read you other post right...grey laminate no longer available?? If so how hard would a good set be to find?
And again, are the stocks hard to change?

Sorry, forgot the stock change ??.... remove the butt pad, use a 12" 3/8" drive extrension or a couple 6" extensions with a 9/16" socket on the end, stick it in the stock bolt hole and remove the stock bolt. The forend is removed by removing the phillips head screw on the bottom of the forend, then pulling the muzzle end of the forend away from the barrel. Make sure the action is closed when you do this, or the barrel can fall from the frame.

The gray laminate may still be available for H&R, but I doubt it, wouldn't hurt to check though.

Your picture shows ammo attached to a rifle on or in a viehicle. Is this legal?

Your ammo holder is on the gun. Same as a clip on or attached to the rifle. Where I am this is against the law when on or in a viehicle.

If a rifle so equiped was stolen and used in a crime, the owner of the rifle could be procecuted for negligence.

Just a thought

Fred,

I think the laws vary from state to state and even under different situations within each state. Dunno for sure about Montana, but in Washington a stock mounted cartridge carrier wouldn't be illegal in a vehicle, but having cartridges in the magazine or chamber would be grounds for a $250 fine. It's considered loaded in either case, can't even be laying in the back of a pickup bed or leaned against the vehicle!! Concealed firearms with a CCW permit excluded.

Yes, in Montana this is legal. Sorry you have such restricting laws.

Fred, that situation as shown is legal in Maine and Massachusetts both, but if any ammo was in a clip inserted into the gun OR chambered and it was even leaned against a vehicle it would be a violation, they would then be consided loaded weapons in a m/v....<><....

3006Bluffhunter, just see if someone wants to trade ya, post in the Classifieds, won't hurt, maybe someone is itchin to get rid of the camos, ya never know.

For Northofthe49, the  checkered camo stocks are part number R02564 $66.90 and forend is part #S02413 for $31.89, 2005 price. I found em in my notes today when reorganizing the  FAQ and Stickys.

thx quick...gonna order a set shortly!

As for FredM's comment about the shell holders on the stock...I see your also from Canada...what province. I'm from Sask and as far as I know they are not illegal here. If they are I have dozens of friends using them and I've got em on all my handis and none of us have ever been hassled by the CO's.
