Beretta U22 Neos VS Single Six
« on: January 07, 2006, 03:46:03 AM »
:? Hello everyone this is my first time here and I love this site. Now for the choice at hand, I would like to get YOUR opion on which is A: more fun to shoot. B: more accurate and C: is an all around good gun.

I plan to target shoot with this 22 lr. and plan to add a 2x20mm scope. So I am looking at a Beretta U22 Neos 6" barrel and a single six Ruger % 3/8" Barrle. My only other choice is by Excel Arms which is a 17HMR autoloader. I currently have a Ruger MK1 and love it.

I have held both and like both and that is why this is hard for me to decide.

Can anyone help me with my choice???

I can't speak as to the Berretta but have heard good things. I have had a single six for 20+ years and have always had good luck. The most similar firearm to the neos I've had was a walther P22, and I found the single six more accurate for me. I'm more of a revolver guy myself. but reloading a single six is slow, and found I like the autoloader for fast fun plinking.

I think you'll just have to decide which one suites you best, The Neos is probably easier to mount a scope. But if you've never had a revolver you might want to try one.

I'm afraid I'm not much help, your just gonna have to buy em both.  :-D

Welcome to the site...You might also want to consider the Taurus 970 22lr revolver as well as the Smith & Wesson 617 22lr revolver...Both are double action revolvers that would be faster to reload than the Ruger Single Six.  But, I love the looks of the Ruger Single Six Hunter in 22lr/22wmr.  The black laminate grips and the included scope rings make is one sweet package...I guess you'll just have to buy one of each.

I have owned two Neos and one single six and I like them both very much. I don't think you will be unsatisfied with either. The Neos with a redot scope mounted to them are just a real joy to shoot. The single six is a great hunting/plinking gun but that is about it for me.

I too like the buckmark over the U22, I have both and the trigger on the buckmark is much better,
