super grade
« on: January 17, 2006, 09:03:30 PM »
I just bought a Winchester model 70 super grade in .458 with 10 boxes of shells for $450.00.  Don't want a push feed but thought it was a good deal.
Metal is 98% but the wood is about 80%.  S/N is G1155XXX.  I want to keep the shells and buy a CRF.  What should I ask for the gun?
Thanks

jedd,

I'm afraid that you are not going to be able to sell that rifle for much more than you paid.  Anyone serious about a big bore will want a controlled feed rifle, although, with Winchester shutting down the New Haven plant, and no more American made Mod. 70's, the value might increase.

If I had that rifle, I'd just shoot it, and hang on to it a while to see what happens with the market.
