Dear Folks,
What in the world is wrong with Marlin. The Marlin lever actions are becoming wildly popular, and most people I know that buy one end up buying one or two more within the next year or so.
But, as it now stands, there is a huge gap in the cartridge line up. It jumps from the .35 Remington to the 45-70/444 Marlin, with virtually nothing in between. I've got nothing against those big bores, but they are brutes (or is it brutal?) to fire with hard hitting ammo, and they shed so much oooph at 200 yard compared to where they start out.
For goodness sakes, how hard would it be for them to offer the model 336 in .345 Winchester (a nice rimmed cartridge) or .356 Winchester (another nice rimmed cartrige). Why are they exerting such tremendous efforts in the .44+ caliber field, leaving the middle of the range totally bare? What could be nicer than a 336, with a 22 inch barrel, in .348 Winchester?
Just some thoughts.
Big Paulie
