The 9 banded armadillo has apperantlly taken up residents in southern Ill from reading my local paper. Are these considered varmints and how big do they get. Our great gov of Ill will probably put them on the endangered list.

Hi swiftman my coyote hunting buddy went calling the other day. Didnt call any thing in so he walk around the hay field . He killed 9 that day and went back the next day and killed 7 all with his 22 250 with a 50gr BT. We have a bunch of them here. VM

I wouldn't think they would be much fun to hunt. Well, maybe with a pocket knife. :grin:

I have had them walk right over the toes of my boots.

They don't offer much of a challange, but do offer a good way of testing
explosive bullets. The plate can start expansion immediately & this makes
for big blow-ups & great family entertainment!

Two things to remember about these "possums on the half shell"

1. They eat fire ants and in my neck of the woods I'll take a dillo over the ants anyday.

2. They eat yellow jacket nests like mad. If you ever stepped on a nest you would wish you had a dillo around.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a good dillo hunt but the little critters do have some benefit.
