Scope for 7mm-08
« on: January 23, 2006, 07:20:52 PM »
I will be using for Deer mainly. Hopefully some Coyote and maybe a p'dog or two this summer. Probably a whole lot more target shooting out to 300yds anyway (have a 500yd range to play on). Planning on getting the Tikka T3 real soon. I will use the stock medium rings for now which only support up to 42mm objective lense. My first choice was Zeiss Conquest 3X9-40mm (only from reading threads and input from local sporting goods). Could not tell a difference in the store side by side against a Leupold VXIII. The Nikon Monarch looked just about as good. I have also heard good things about Elite 4200. I am interested in hearing how people who have used these in the field under hunting conditions compared these units for clarity and light gathering? I am very interested in a product with a lifetime warranty.

Go with the Leupold, you won't be disappointed.  :D

Hey 32......your choice of scopes are right on the money.  Go with the Conquest.  I have 2 of them on my Tikkas and they are fantastic.  You can find one on line for less than the price of a VX III.  Optics are fantastic.

I was trying to back off the Leupold advice. I get hammered by some people that are Leupold haters. But I figured they just don't really have a clue. LOL :D  :-D

I'm working on setting up a 4200 on my Tikka now.  I had a Conquest and parted with it.  It served me well, but the Elite turrets are WAY nicer!  Unless you are doing MOST of your shooting approching or at night, then the extra $ spent on a Zeiss is wasted IMHO. WDO

Thank you ALL for your input. Right now i am leaning toward the Nikon Monarch 3-9X40. With a little savings from purchasing my components from the Optic Zone, I am looking into putting that savings toward a range finder (Nikon Lazer 800). Go Team Nikon and Thank You Optic Zone.
