I have all you got listed here except the hotdog, although I heard it is supposed to be a real versatile howler. Had the rigor rabbit for a while, it certainly gives them dogs something to look at on the way in! I just bought the Primos Ki-Yi on sunday at the cabelas in Hamburg, PA. Took it out for a test run monday evening after work. Was using it with the o-ring in the middle of the reed to make a dying rabbit call, just hunting for any predator around not just a coyote. As soon as I finished my FIRST 30-45 second sequence I looked to the left and there stood a fox. BAM.....the .17 hmr claimed another.

Looks like a good start you got there! What kind of gun are you using?

Sounds like I am off to a good start with those results!!  Until I can get my own 22-250 that I've been wantin to get,  I'll just use my 25-06 i guess.  I dont really have anything thats really in a "varmint" caliber  except for my AR-15 in .223 but that doesnt have a scope on it.  Will a 25-06 shooting 117gr. softpoints tear up a yote pelt really bad?  Thanks!

speer also makes a 117 gr tnt..... ive had some good luck with them and have a load worked up if youre interested that shoots beautiful out of a 1 in 14 inch 26 inch barrel.

.25-06 isn't a good round for saving pelts, but it will certainly drop a 'yote. Unlike some guys I prefer a good varmint bullet like a v-max. They're explosive bullets but as long as you go behind the shoulder and don't hit any bones (like the shoulder) then it won't tear em up too bad. Some people even prefer solids, though I would never use a solid for any kind of hunting I do. Very little killing power.

im gonna disagree with ya on the 25-06 not being a good pelt saving round. traditionally youre right. but run those 117 tnt bullets with some imr 4831 and youll be pushing a tad over 3,100 fps...... even with a broad side shot you wont get a pass through.

bda365,  the ammo I'm shootin right now is factory stuff since I don't reload.  But I just went and looked on the ammo box and its Speer Nitrex ammo and is shooting a 120 gr. Grand Slam bullet.  The box didn't say the velocity.  With my limitation to the 25-06 for now, and factory ammo, and if I'm tryin to save as much pelt as possible then should I just use this ammo or try to find a factoy V-Max or ballistic silvertip load?  Thanks!
