bipod+survivor stock=?
« on: January 19, 2006, 01:23:05 PM »
I jsut purchased a survivor stock and am wondering if anybody has mounted a bipod to theirs. My biped is anchored to the sling swivel stud but as I am sure you are aware, the SSS is located on the front of the forearm making it impossible to mount. My question; Is the forearm thick enough to perhaps drill a hole so a new SSS can be threaded in so the bipod can be attatched? :?

I think this was asked once before, IIRC, the solution was to get an Uncle Mike's threaded stud that has machine threads and a nut on it.

Another option would be to get the Choate Varmint forend with the bipod T-rail...

Yes, you can.  I used to have a .308 survivor that I drilled about 2 or 3 inches from the front and put a swivel stud/nut on the forearm.  Picked the studs up at a gun show.  Worked real nice, and looked good too.  Got rid of the rifle though, so I can't help you out with a picture.  Good luck!!
