Opening day in Illinois I saw one deer at 9:30AM, happened to be an 8 point buck that I shot.  Second day saw one doe at 7AM no clear shot,  took a walk at 10AM and saw five does running toward me in an open field, I hunkered down and shot the lead doe, that filled my firearms season tags.

Muzzleloader season saw one deer on opening day that saw me first, on the last day I saw a buck running by, I grunted to stop him, but he just speeded up so I took a running shot at him and missed.

:D It was a very unusual year in West Texas.  In past years it wasn't uncommon to see a hundred plus deer during the season.  I remember an afternoon two-three years ago when I saw 17 bucks in one afternoon, 9 were 4-6 pointers running in a group.  This year I saw a total of 31 deer, thats after spending about 25 days in the stand.

We had a very wet June, July, August, this led to an excellent acorn crop, grass was growing in places it had never grown before, as a result the deer didn't have to move far from their bedding places to feeding spots.

I think a combination of things, the plentiful amount of food, the lack of water and the exceptionall hot weather contributed to my not seeing game.

But things are so dry now we are having range fires all over the state.  Thousands of acres have burned in my area, so if we don't get rain , then next year may be just as bad.

I saw a bunch of deer, I passed up a bunch also. I took a total of 5 deer this year. We still have 2 1/2 weeks left in Delaware to hunt. It ends January 28th.
I took a 10 point,  9 point,  5 point a button buck and a doe. All but the doe and 5 point are getting mounted. I needed a button buck to go on my wall, I hunt in Delaware and Maryland.  :D

I saw nine, and killed 3.  What is funny is that all 3 kills and 7 of the nine I got to see where from oct 1-nov 1.  our BP season is 10/1-10/10 and rifle is from 10/11-01/02.  I did not hunt bow this year, it is from 09/15-10/01 and was HOT!!!  I hunted every tue am, thur pm, and almost all day on fri, sat, and sun pms, but didn't see a single deer from 11/01 until almost end of the season, huntin 4-5 different stands on 500 acres.  Seems funny, and I wonder if I was over hunting.
This that I do, I do by my own free will.

Saw three, shot two.  With deer in the freezer I got lazy and didn't go out much after that.  Shame on me!

Don't know how many deer I saw total, lot of deer in northern Virginia. Very few bucks this year, not counting button bucks, I only saw 3 spikes and one seven point.

I killed a doe during bow season and a seven point during rifle. The seven point has a four point typical frame with a small drop tine off the right beam and two kickers off the back of the left beam. Here is a pic, although you can't see the kickers in this shot.

Well I didn't get to do as much hunting this year as I normally do. I went out two days in muzlle loader season, seen one deer and killed that one deer.
I went out 2 1/2 days in firearms season, first day I saw 8 deer all doe. I let them walk in hopes for a buck but seen nothing else that day.
Second day I saw 4 deer at first light and let them walk. Just before dark a big doe came out pretty close and I shot her. 5 minutes latter what I thought was another doe came out so I shot that one to but he was a button buck.
I went on a managed shotgun hunt in a local state park this past Thursday and I saw about 15 deer but could not shoot at them due to safety concerns.

Seen at least 30 deer
Shot 3 deer

Very northern tip of the state, Frederick County. Has some of the highest deer densities in the state.

My wife and I went to the family ranch Thanksgiving weekend at the spur of the moment but couldnt hunt for lack of a rifle. My 308 is at my dads in Carthage, 6 hours the wrong way from the ranch. Basically just drove around to show her the ranch and look around. Saw a hand full of does and 2 small bucks. All of which were easily within reach.

Man I gotta move out east.... I dont get to shoot that many deer a year. The limit in the county I hunt in is 5 deer(2 bucks, 3 antlerless).  Thats all seasons combined. First weekend thru end of oct for archery, first weekend of Nov. thru newyears.  Ranch rule is 1 buck and 1 doe per year per immediate family. Most families only get 1-2 weekends to go out there and we all live fairly long drive away. Then again, I didnt even get to go out there this year.
I'm the only one who intends to bowhunt out there next year, so I'll probably go 2 weekends in oct and all thanksgiving week in nov. i hope.

I hunted every other weekend of deer season this year. I saw surely more than 200 deer and 50 feral hogs.  I took two feral hogs, one more than 200 pounds and another around 50.  I took a big 9 point and two does. I also spent 10 days elk hunting but didn't get a shot.

I see deer all the time, there's often deer in my yard, or in my garden. Where I hunt, I often see 30 to 40 in a day, but this year I picked the wrong spot and only saw one. It's in my freezer. My brother, son, and nephew, were on the same place, on the same day, and they all saw a bunch....like I said, wrong place. :-D
Hey, hold my beer and watch this.

Any big deer down there in Rappahanock County? Seems to me I heard a lot of nice bucks come out of that part of the state. Then again it always seems like the nicest bucks are taken where I'm not hunting.

Not to bad down here in Middle Georgia, first part of the season (before Thanksgiving) I hunted with a NEF 243 Ultra light and shot five deer (an 8 pointer and three does).  The last part of the season hunting with the NEF 308 Survivor shot three more deer (a spike and two does). I guess I saw about double the amount of deer that I shot.  The season ended yesterday (Jan. 15).  I guess I will be hunting hogs the rest of the year.

I'm sure you know where Winchester, VA is, or have at least heard of it. I live about 5 minutes north of winchester on 522. We have 30 acres here around the house and a 70 acre tract 10 minutes down a back road. Decent deer hunting, same with turkey, real good fox hunting, some coyotes, had good grouse hunting years ago. And of course squirrels, they're everywhere and anywhere.
