probably a stupid question
« on: January 22, 2006, 07:25:25 AM »
I had posted the question on military surplus rifles and got no answer. This is probably where I should have posted. I was just wondering what the differences would be in the new military 6.8 and the 7.62x39 other than one is basically a .30 cal. and the other a .270 cal? What is the case volume diff.? Could 6.8 velocities be reached within a couple hundred ft. by handloading the 7.62. And why the heck did'nt they go back to the tried and true .308, I know they wanted to be able to switch out the uppers
on the m16, I guess the .308 won't fit in the magazine. Still come on the .308 would have been to me and obvious choice. :?  :?
