Marlin 375 big bore
« on: January 08, 2006, 12:21:54 PM »
Went to a gun show today and came across a Marlin 375. The metal was very good and the wood had just a couple of dings in it. Very little wear on the lever pivot and the bore looked good. Price was 375.00 , he said he'd take 360.00 .  I was going to buy it, but set it back in the rack to look at another Marlin in the rack. I'm looking at the other gun and along comes this guy picks the 375 up and out comes the cash.  Guess I wasn't supposed to buy that gun.

Too bad.  I got a 375 a few years back (my first Marlin) and love it.  But it shares time out of the safe now with a .30-30 and .45-70.

Any ideas on value for the .375? I have one that I took my first deer with about 4 years ago. Was a gift from my father in law and probably doesn't have 50 rounds through it in its lifetime. I did manage to scratch the stock getting into my stand. Other than that, it is perfect. Thanks for the input.

I had one lined up a while ago, fellow I worked with, a bit more expensive, but he upped and moved back home and didnt leave a contact. Found a Savage 99 on another site, way out of my price range, told a friend and he snagged it. Seen a Winnie or two, not much interest.
So the search goes on.

Seems like Savages are really starting to climb in price. They're another gun that I'd like to  get a nice shooter.

Yeah, all Savage 99s are going up, but the .358s and .375s are really getting out of reach. Supply and demand I guess.

That would not be a good thing.  I have been looking for one for some time and have also been told they run around 500 for a good one.

When I saw a Remington Classic in 257 Roberts in like new condition with a box I was going to put it on layaway.  Decided I didn't want to chance it walking out the door with someone else, I bought it outright.

My wife once made the mistake of telling me "all of your guns look alike"...No, I've had this gun for a long time! LOL

Josh, your dad is a very wise man! Marlin's in .32 Win are getting very scarce around my neck of the woods. Winchesters in .32 are easy to find but the Marlins are tough! A good friend of mine had his Marlin .32 stolen out of his house a few years ago but the strange thing about it was that they left his Win 30-30 which was sitting right next to it!    CEJ...

I had a 375 marlin a few years ago. Let it go, what a mistake. But i guess
i could say that of all the guns i traded or sold. Going to have another .375win Marlin again.  :-)
always be safe and pass it on to a young hunter
