Finding zinc in WW's ????
« on: January 24, 2006, 01:58:26 PM »
Hey Everyone: Got a question for you much smarter guys. I have about 7 pails of wheel weights to melt down this spring. I know that they are starting to use zinc more, how do you detech them in your melt. I read somewhere that they will float with the clips up to a certain temp, this true??. Hate to junk the who mess because of a few weights. Any replys will be greatly appreciated. Peter a.k.a. pistolfan

If they look strange (not like a regular WW) I toss them. If I see one in the melting pot that doesn't look like its melting like the rest I dip it out and toss it. The flat stickon weights are close to pure lead and I would suggest seperating them for muzzleloader bullets. If you don't have a muzzleloader you will have an excuse to get one.
