bought a Marlin 410 - WOW!
« on: January 14, 2006, 11:44:22 AM »
I picked one up this week NIB at a local gun shop.

It is a little front heavy, but I love the feel of it. The swollen forearm is nice and has a "vintage feel" to it.

The Hi-Viz front sight is easy to pick up and the shotgun shoulders easily.

I can not believe there will be much kick to it.....it is really "heafty."

The gun just screams "FUN". Even if I never hunt with it, shooting it will be really enjoyable.

It resembles a 336 in most appearance, eacept for the front sight, swollen forearm, and rubber buttpad.

I spent too much, but I think this is a shotgun I will be able to pass down to my kids.

I can not wait to get it out in the field. I just wish it would take 3 inch shells.

Anyone else own one?

I do not own one, but it is on my list of guns to buy. My brother has the winchester model and he loves it. I like being different, since I have a 1895GS I think that the Marlin 410 would be perfect for a fun to shoot gun, and to teach my kids how to shoot.
In my opinion, anyone pushing through anti-gun legislation is a bloody traitor and should be sent up for treason.

I am sure it will be fun to shoot. My first gun was a 410 Steven's Savage single shot. I killed a lot of game growing up with it. I still have it.The only problem I have with the 410  is the shells are 2 to 3 times higher than 20 g shells. They would sell a lot more 410s if the Ammo company's would get right with the price. A box of 410s should not be more than $2.50 a box. Instead of $8 or $9.

Whip, I had the same problem as you do with the ammo prices.  I solved it by buying a MEC 600 Jr. shotshell reloader

It's supply and demand.  If the demand goes up then the supply line will fill with entries from several areas.  When this happens cost goes down, initially to make one maker more attractive to the buyer.

So the answer is to shoot more.  If enough people do it then cost drops.

Either that or buy a MEC 600 Jr and roll your own.
