Changes for 2006 in H&R/NEF Catalog
« on: January 25, 2006, 11:53:50 AM »
I just picked up a new 2006 H&R/NEF Catalog today and noticed a few changes but not much. Not much that we didn't already know.

The Pinnacle Over and Under Shotguns are gone.

The Pardner Pumps have a humpback receiver like the Excell, it is offered in 20ga regular or youth, 12ga & 20ga Slug Guns and 3-1/2" 12 ga versions all drilled and tapped for scope base. The walnut forend has changed.

The Excell Auto 5 no longer has the magazine cut-off on the front of the receiver.

The Pardner's, Tracker II's, Sidekicks/Huntsmans no longer have color case hardened receivers, only the Buffalo Classic and Target Model do in the pics.

New 12ga & 20 ga (reg & youth) Pardners with nickel receivers, synthetic stocks and screw in chokes.

New Handi 7.62 x 39 Russian & 35 Whelen calibers in the book.

New Synthetic Handi-Rifle/Pardner 20 ga Shotgun Combos & Youth Superlight Synthetic Handi-Rifle/Pardner 20ga Shotgun Combos with nickle receivers.

New ultra Varmint Fluted in .243 Win.

So, not much new in the rifle area and nothing new that we didn't already know about.  :(

I guess there is always next year!

No surprise there, they didn't update it last year until well into the new year.

...and in which is a bad move for H&R/NEF. Too many people look to the net for information to let their site sit idle with no revisions. A small aspect that would really boost more interest and $$ for them if they just took a little time to revise their site.

Marlin just updated their web site, you'd think that with the relationship tween the two, NEF/H&R's site would get attention, too!!

Hey guys, I noticed another thing that must be new on page 13 of the 2006 catalog. Take a look at the new Handi-Rifle/Pardner Shotgun Combo's Monte Carlo synthetic stock. Look at the drop at the comb and heel, it is definitely a lot lower than any other monte carlo. This would be to allow you to use the 20ga plain barrel without having to change stocks.

So, if anyone is looking for a Monte Carlo type stock that has more drop at the comb and heel, you may be able to get one in synthetic at least. Just thought I would mention that because I have heard complaints about not being able to get low enough on the stock before. Maybe it will end up in the 2006 H&R/NEF Retail Parts Price List, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

They have 4 pages dedicated to the Pardner Pumps   and I noticed the "American Made" is back on all the single shot models.

Mitchell,

Doesn't the Stainless Handi-Rifle already have a nickel SB2 receiver? I know the one they use for the pictures in the catalog looks like real stainless but so did the (SB1) Huntsmans and Tamers and they are nickel. I think there were some old REAL stainless receivers at one time, but I don't think they actually sell them on any rifles any longer.

I hope that is Root Beer in your emoticon?

Here's the pic on page 13 of the catalog..

I thought the SS frames were nickeled too, the only difference tween my Topper and SS '06 frame that I can see is the pins on the SS are bright instead of blued.

I tried to do the entire page, but it was too many megabytes!! So I at least made it big enough to read the text along with great pics of the stocks.
