DIY Buffalo Classic
« on: January 26, 2006, 01:36:07 PM »
I have lusted for a long-barreled aperture sighted .45/70 for many years but somewhat gave up on the notion because my eyesight just doesn't do it anymore without a scope.  I now have some new prescription shooting glasses that give me a pretty nice sight picture again, so I want to give it a try - but economically to start out with.  I see where the Buffalo Classic barrel can be fitted to a Handi.  I figure I would send in a frame, have a BC barrel mounted, and purchase and install the sights myself. To start out with I would keep the standard factory stock and forend, and if it works out well, I'd upgrade the wood later. I'd appreciate some input from you folks...   Thanks for any help! :D
1.  Am I correct in assuming they will mount that barrel to my Handi frame?  It looks like the .45/70 barrels mount to all Handi frames.
2.  Do they still offer the factory trigger jobs?
3.  Will the "standard" Handi forearms fit?
4.  How well do the BC's shoot?  Any good target loads to share?
