Scope mount for a Colt .22 Sporter
« on: April 13, 2006, 12:28:58 AM »
I hope someone has one to sell, or knows where to get one.

I have one of the Colt Sporter or Model 22 .22 pistols (I've seen it called both, so I must be missing something). The stainless with the polymer gripframe (and no model designation on it!).

Jack Weigand used to make a Weaver style mount that replaced the screw on barrel rib that is on the 4' model, but they no longer produce it.

Any ideas as to who I could try, or advice on an alternative to the Weigand mount?

Thanks for any help. My eyes aren't up to the open sights anymore.

I put a weaver style mount by B-Square on mine.  Like you said it is screwed into the existing holes in barrel recess after the rib & sight are removed.  The rear sight can stay in place
I mounted an Optima red dot sight on it that worked well. It's no longer made by that company, but a sight by Doctor(sp) looks similar.
I don't remember where I bought it, but ebay or some other auction site might turn one up. A quick check of the B Square website didn't turn anything up.
Eyes not up to the task anymore? I know the feeling.

Thanks guys. Yep, that is pricey. But I think you're right and it's the only one available.

Weigands one was nice because it was short and was over the barrel only, but then that probably leaves you little choice with placing the scope and balance will likely be negatively affected, so maybe I need to wait and get one of these.

Many thanks for the help.
