Author Topic: Anyone have a Smith & Wesson SW1911? (Read 907 times)

I'm looking for some feed back on the SW1911, good or bad! I was going to buy one last summer but I had some other financial obligations I had to take care of. So now I'm thinking about getting a SW1911 model #108282 again. I was also looking at a Springfield Custom Loaded FULL-SIZE 1911-A1 Stainless model #PX9151L. But I honestly like the SW1911 better. Now I've never fired either one of these two pistols, I was just comparing them side by side. Everything I've ever read about either of these pistols has been great. I was wondering what the guys and/or gals that owned or even fired a SW1911 thought of them. Thanks, NYH!:)

buddy has one of there commander sized alloy guns and its a sweetheart. Its been real accurtate and reliable. Havent tried any of the other ones though.

Have a full size SW1911 and light weight commander size 1911, both are great shooters and function flawlessly so far.

I have a Springfield and like it a bunch. I've only run a few hundred rounds through it so far but it puts round after round in the X ring at 50 ft.

I owned one of the SW1911 Stainless models when they first came out. I used it in USPSA competition immediately. Served me well for most of a summer season. Accurate and ulta-reliable.

I ended up getting a Colt 1991 Government model and it replaced the SW1911. Although initially not as reliable as the SW1911, the Colt was more accurate out of the box. The SW1911 was sold off to finance another firearm.

I still like the SW1911 and would definitely buy another. My personal pecking order for "mainstream" 1911's is: Colt, S&W, Springfield Armory, .....then maybe Kimber.

jakes10mm, I haven't considered Colt's 1911 or 1991 because they seem to cost way to much for what you get. By that I mean for the same (or usually more and sometimes a lot more) amount of money you don't get the extra features like you do with a S&W, Springer and Kimber. I'm not trying to knock Colt, but man they cost a lot for what you get!

jakes10mm, I went and looked at a few Colt's, the Colt 01070XSE is about $100 more then the SW1911 but it does have a lot of the features I'm looking for. It looks like a pretty nice pistol!!!
