Loose release lever

I just purchased a used HR 45.70.  Looks and feels new, but noticed that the release lever fits loose when the action is closed.  Is that normal?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

To answer your question, yes the release lever should have a bit of play in it when the action is locked up.  If it doesn't it means that the locking lug may not be fully extended.  There should be about a 16th of an inch or so of play.

Thanks.  Mine may have a little more the 1/16", but don't think it's gonna hurt anything.
