What does xtr stand for?

What does winchester mean in their model 70 made the 70's&80's when they call it a model 70 xtr? :D

It was just a marketing moniker.  The models marked XTR are the equivalents to the later "Classic" model.  Not a Super Grade, but not a stripped down model either.
