darn, I just typed a bunch of stuff and I lost it cause this site is slow or something!
I bought a Stampede a few months ago. 44-40 cal with 5.5 barrel.
Fit and finish good. Had a problem right off the get go with over rotation of the cylinder when cocked fast and hard. Sent it back. The sent it back to me FAST...about a week and 5 days later I had it. Problem fixed, with everything they did listed, new springs, bolt work, timing, ect.
I also asked them to adjust point of aim, sent a target in with it, they sent me back a target which also showed all shots to the left and said it was within their standards. (grrrrr)...but OK...it shot great goups.
I would have to turn the barrel myself a tad, but before I got around to it, someone wanted to buy it from me, offered me what I paid, so I sold it with the targets and info from Beretta.
The Stampede is nice, has a transfer bar, you'll want different grips maybe, but it's a pretty good buy for the money, and Beretta will fix any timing problems fast, at least they did for me. They won't get her shootin dead on though, that's up to you. 44-40 is a fusy caliber though, would not accept Magtech cowboy loads, Winchester was real good, and handloads ya have to be careful with 44-40. If your a wee bit off in sizing, they won't chamber. you won't have to worry with any of that with a .357 though. I think it was a pretty gun, with nice qualities though.
I took the money and put some with it and ordered a USFA standard single action, still waiting for that, got another month to go.
